KiteSurf
Jericoacoara is highlighted when the point is kitesurfing, sea and perfect winds for the practice of the sport.Jericoacoara is the ideal place because winds and currents are "side on shore", miles of beach with sand, without obstacles. The highest waves reach up to one meter in Jeri. At low tide the water conditions are more "flat."
For the more experienced kiters who like to vary, we offer Kitesafáris from Fortaleza to Jericoacoara and kite-trips here into the National Park of Jeri, enjoying the beautiful beaches of the state, small villages of fishermen and wonderful downwinders !
Windsurf
Jericoacoara is the best point of windsurfing of Ceará, and maybe of Brazil. Fortaleza is already known to be a place of strong wind, it receives the Alisios (trade winds) that blow from Africa, but Jericoacoara really stands out. One of the factors that help explain this fact is the location of Jericoacoara. While the Ceará coast has a NW-SE direction in most of its coastline in the region of Jericoacoara, the coast is parallel to the equator, to EW, and also parallel to the direction of Alisios, that then "pass" all to Jericoacoara with a big force,without finding the natural barrier formed by the continent in other parts of the coast.
THE WIND - the wind blows the entire year in Jericoacoara, not taking any time of year it is not possible to sail. The wind is usually stronger in the second half, with the peak months of August and September. On most days the wind in Jericoacoara is in the average of 20 knots, with gusts of 30.
